Lichen and Moss was set up as way to share products made with nature, that are sourced ethically, naturally foraged and lovingly prepared. Everything I sell is handmade and I use myself for my own personal enjoyment.

Art is my space for Joy and Creativity. I discovered the process of transforming the land and natural produce of the land into inks and paint pigments which has brought a depth and further enjoyment to my art. The process of foraging and making the pigments and inks are part of the story of the final piece.

The paint pigments are made by grinding and filtering foraged stones. Each stone is foraged mindfully. The colours have been created often with the stones I forage locally in the Scottish Borders, sourced from the rivers and the hills. Others have been found on trips to the sea or on hills and walks with our dogs.

The Inks are made with botanicals most of which are locally foraged and transformed through a beautiful ancient alchemy to produce some the deep hues resonant of the plants and trees.

There is a satisfaction in creating the colours of the land in painting, from nature. I hope you love these paints and inks as much as I do. This alchemic process of making them celebrates creativity, sustainability, and a deep love for land where I live.
